			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 3 Day Cardiac Diet was supposedly developed by the Birmingham Hospital in Alabama, though the hospital does not admit its role in the origin of the plan.  The 3 day cardiac diet has also been attributed to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The story is that the 3 Day Cardiac Diet was designed for patients who needed to lose up to 10 lbs weight quickly so they could have surgery.</p>
<p>The 3 Day Cardiac Diet has set menu plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner for three days. Each day is limited to about 800 calories.  While some claim that there is a special “chemical reaction,” much of the weight loss benefit is likely obtained by the restricted calorie intake.  Also, there are very few carbs on the diet which leads to water loss.</p>
<p>You should drink six to eight cups of water a day on the program to speed digestion.</p>
<p>Tuna is the featured protein on the 3 day Cardiac diet. 1/2 cup of tuna is prescribed on the first two days, and on the final day, you will increase that to 1 cup. Variety and nutrition is provided with small to medium sized portions of cheese, eggs, crackers, vegetables, grapefruit, banana, and toast. Coffee, <a href="http://redirectingat.com?id=1221X512157&xs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tkqlhce.com%2Fclick-3397631-6944964&sref=rss" target='_blank'>tea</a>, or diet soda can accompany meals but water should be the beverage of choice outside of mealtime.</p>
<p>Some nutritionists express concerns about the restricted levels of calories and lack of a full range of nutritional options.   However, considering that the diet lasts only 3 days, these are not a major concern.</p>
<p>People following the 3 day cardiac diet will likely feel hunger pangs and have lower energy levels.  This is especially true by the third day.  But, keep in mind that the diet is of limited duration and you should be fine unless you have endurance based physical feats to perform.</p>
<p>Your body may start to recognize that only a limited food supply is available when you eat only 3 small meals a day.  It may begin to compensate by reducing metabolism and energy levels to conserve fat reserves. This can actually make it harder to lose weight and place the body under additional stress.</p>
<p>The 3 Day Cardiac diet is not suitable for long term dieting.  After 3 days you should start on a diet that offers more variety and more calories.</p>
<p>The 3 Day Cardiac Diet provides restricted calories and nutrients for its intended duration.  Your body can handle a fast for 3 days, so it certainly can handle a restricted calorie diet.  However, the diet is not a long term solution to your weight management concerns.</p>
<p>If you need to lose a few pounds in a short period of time, the 3 day cardiac diet can help to get you there.  If you are trying to lose those “last 5 pounds” and nothing else seems to be working, try the 3 day cardiac diet.  But follow it up with a sensible eating plan.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not uncommon to lose a lot of weight very early in your weight loss and then to reach a plateau when it just seems like you can&#8217;t lose another pound to save your life.  This often happens because the weight you lose in the very beginning is just water weight and after a time that weight loss will start to slack off.  The good news is that you may still be losing unwanted fat, but this won&#8217;t come off as quickly so it may take longer to notice it, the nice thing about this is that losing fat is the only real way to get your body in the shape you want it to be in.  Losing water weight is only temporary but losing fat can be permanent.</p>

To get the maximum benefit form your workouts, make sure that you change your workouts frequently so your body doesn&#8217;t settle into a set routine.</p>
<p>To keep your weight loss moving along nicely make sure that you concentrate more on what you eat and how much activity you get and don&#8217;t expect to maintain such a vigorous weight loss during the whole process.  Using these methods you can avoid having to ever ask the question: why did I stop losing weight?</p>

The biggest problem with this diet is that many common and popular foods are forbidden, which makes it easy for the user to get bored or frustrated. When boredom and frustration set in, quitting time is never far off. Another problem is the lack of nutrients that are usually brought in by carbohydrate foods, while allowing the user to eat bacon and cheese that raise cholesterol levels.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that high protein/low carb diets result in fast weight loss in some users, but it’s not just fat that goes away. People also lose some of their lean muscle mass and a lot of water as the kidneys work harder to rid the body of excess waste from protein and fat.</p>
<p>The added stress to your kidneys may not be healthy at all and, in the long run, can lead to dehydration, headaches, feelings of nausea and dizziness. Before engaging in a long-term diet, you would do well to discuss it with your physician. And if you are really eager to diet, try a balanced diet first, because it will help you lose weight without the possibility of jeopardizing your system if done properly.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Funny how those few extra pounds seem to creep onto our bodies without notice. Then, one day, it&#8217;s almost as though they have all been added at once. Perhaps it a glance in the mirror, or worse, a comment from a friend you haven&#8217; t seen in a while. Whatever it is, you are ready to lose weight. You want to look and feel better. At the same time, there&#8217;s so much conflicting information about the best way to lose weight. What&#8217;s a person to do?</p>
<p>What follows may not be at the top of everybody&#8217;s list for ways to lose weight quickly, but it works. At the very least it should be added to your bag of tricks for dropping those extra pounds. Some of the tips may sound a little silly, but you can&#8217;t argue with results. So, what is this method? Portion control. And it can actually be a lot fun!</p>
<p>For starters, when you focus on your portions, there&#8217;s no need to carry along a bulky calories counter guide when you go out to eat. I used to hate trying to be &#8220;casual&#8221; when using those, because I just knew all of the other diners were watching me; thinking to themselves how fat I was.</p>
<p>The most basic way of controlling your portions is&#8230;get ready&#8230;this is good&#8230;putting less on your plate. See? Easy. Not so fast! If it was that easy we would all be at our ideal weight. Yes, by all means, make an effort to put less on your plate. Here are a few more tricks to keep portions limited so you can lose extra weight.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry about cleaning your plate. In fact, make it a habit to always leave a few bites on your plate. Speaking of your plate, using smaller dishes will give the illusion that there is more food on them. You can even eat on a saucer instead of a large dinner plate. Granted, you may have to fill it a second time, but all in all, it&#8217;s an easy way to limit the amount of food you&#8217;re eating.</p>
<p>A big problem for a lot of people is that they eat so fast that they are technically full long before they feel full. Slow down the speed with which you normally eat. Doing so will give your stomach more time to signal the brain that it&#8217;s full.</p>
<p>The beauty of doing it this way is that you can eat the same foods you enjoy now. You should still add more healthy foods, but you don&#8217;t have to give up any foods if you can keep the portion sizes under control. Once you get used to it, it&#8217;s as close to automatic weight loss as you can get. It seems that you are dieting and exercising your heart out for nothing. If you feel that you are currently on a dieting plateau, keep in mind that there has to be an up side (your previous weight loss), a leveling off (which you are currently experiencing) and a down side (which you&#8217;ll get to soon). Each plateau you come upon in your weight loss journey will have these same characteristics. Learning how to deal with them now will help you in the future. </p>
<p>Follow these guidelines to break through your dieting plateau and get back on the weight loss trail &#8211; </p>
<p>Continue to Exercise:<br />
Even if it seems that you are not making progress towards weight loss, it is important to continue to exercise. Not doing so will allow extra pounds to creep back on. In fact, if you are experiencing a plateau, it may be wise to increase the amount or intensity of your exercise, to help you break out of your slump.</p>
<p>Continue to Eat Well:<br />
Maintain the weight that you have lost so far by continuing to eat healthy foods. Do not use your plateau as an excuse for a binge, or drastically reduce your calorie count. Continue to eat the diet that has helped you lose weight so far. Do so consistently, and you will soon be out of the plateau.</p>
<p>Develop a Support Network:<br />
Find a message board or a group of real life friends, and draw on them for support. This will help you to continue towards your weight loss goals, even when it becomes more difficult. If possible, find friends who are also dieting. They will be a great support to you throughout your weight loss journey.</p>
<p>As you fight your way through your dieting plateau, you are responsible for every action you take. Each decision you make will impact your weight loss now and in the future. Do the best you can to continue to make healthy choices, even though the scale may not show it. </p>
<p>If you have been exercising a lot, keep in mind that you may be losing fat and gaining muscle, leading to no drop in scale weight. Use the above guidelines to maintain your diet, and stay strong. Soon you’ll be breaking through that plateau and soaring on down the scale. </p>

Let&#8217;s learn what foods to add if you want to truly supercharge your diet and burn fat quickly.</p>
<p>1. Oatmeal<br />
This whole grain is truly a nutritional powerhouse. Oatmeal is high fiber and low calorie. It is also very filling. Add a serving of oatmeal to your breakfast, and boost your calorie burning power. Be sure to use plain cooked oatmeal. Flavored instant oatmeal is packed with sugar, preservatives, and artificial colors and flavors. Stick to real oatmeal – steel cut oats if possible.</p>

<p>Your metabolism depends on three separate factors, and how it works affects how much you weigh. Metabolism is determined by the amount of calories you consume, factors such as age and sex, and how physically active you are.</p>
<p>If you consume excessive calories, you will eventually gain weight. Each human body is designed to run on a certain calorie amount. This can vary from person to person, but is between 1500 and 2500 calories for most adults. If you are trying to lose weight, it will be less.</p>
<p>Men generally need more calories per day than women, unless the woman is pregnant or breastfeeding. The rate at which your body burns these calories is your metabolism; if you burn them more slowly, you’ll gain weight. If you burn through extra calories quickly, you’ll maintain your weight.</p>
<p>Factors such as age, body composition, and sex also determine metabolism. If your body contains more muscle, your metabolism will be faster. If it contains more fat, your body will be slower.</p>
<p>For this reason, women&#8217;s metabolism often slows down after pregnancy. Excess fat is accumulated and stored on the hips and breasts. After pregnancy, it can be harder to lose this weight. Age also affects your metabolism; as you age, your metabolism slows down. This can lead to &#8220;middle age spread&#8221; if you don&#8217;t take action to burn those extra calories and kick your metabolism into high gear.</p>
<p>Your rate of physical activity greatly affects your metabolism. This is good news; it means you have some control over the situation! If your metabolism is slowing down due to age, gender, or other factors, you can boost it by exercising. The key to weight loss is burning more calories than you take in.</p>
<p>When you choose to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet, weight loss is possible. Your metabolism will increase as you add muscle to your body remember; muscle burns more calories than fat!</p>
<p>To jump-start your metabolism, you may need to lower the amount of calories you&#8217;re consuming daily and up the amount of exercise you are doing. Choose aerobic and weight lifting exercises for maximum impact. Aerobic exercise burns fat, and weight training will add muscle. Both can greatly increase your metabolism, leading to healthy fat loss.</p>
